The Story of the New Patio

February to August 2000

One day in February 2000 we started to weed the rockery. We ended up removing all the weeds, all the rocks, and all the patio. Below are a few photos showing what happened.

This is a rather old photo, that doesn't really show how small and awful the old patio was. Most of it was between 4" and 6" of cracked concrete on to of old slabs. It took weeks (months) of hard labour to break it all up by hand, and it over-filled a large skip.

I'm sure you agree that there was a lot of rubble: and this was after most of it had gone.

Note the superb brick wall!

 

The rubble has gone, and the outline can be seen by the critics.

The worker is proud of the progress despite calls of, "Are you sure that's straight?"

Was it worth it? Judge for your self. All I want is time to sit on it, but there again, perhaps next year!
